Based on a tip-off, police laid a check-post at village Dharra in the district and intercepted a man, identified as Zakir Hussain of Dharra village.
"A sealed leather bag with 'Made in Afghanistan' stamp containing 500 grams heroin was recovered from the possession of Zakir Hussain who was on way to Doda. It is worth Rs one crore in the international market," SSP Doda Zahid Naseem Manhas said.
He said that the police was looking for his accomplice namely Talib Hussain, a resident of Doda who handed over the consignment to Zakir.
