High Court sets aside MTC order on increment cut to worker

: Madras High Court has set aside a Metropolitan Transport Corporation order, recommending an increment cut to one of its workers for three months for his negligence at work.
Allowing the petition, Justice D Hariparanthaman, in his brief order, said that as per the certified standing orders of the MTC, an enquiry was required for imposing punishment to an employee and it had not been followed in the present case.
A Arulalan, a tradesman in MTC's Anna Nagar depot was suspended from duty on charges of negligence, as he failed to maintain the engine of a bus, which resulted in a breakdown.
But soon after his explanation,the suspension was revoked and instead his increment was cut for three months and hence the case contending that the authorities had not followed the standing order of the MTC.
