High turnout marks Anant Chaturdashi festivities

Thick crowds of devotees descended on the holy town of Goverdhan here to take part in festivities organised in the run up to Anant Chaturdashi today.
With festive fervour sweeping the town, locals said about 4 lakh pilgrims paid obeisance to Giriraj ji on the occasion of Chappan Bhog ceremony which concluded here late in the night yesterday.
Justice PC Gupta of Allahabad High Court, who attended the event, said it was, "Magnificent, startling... Cannot be described in words."
Murari Agrawal, founder-president of the Giriraj Seva Samiti, said, "The highlight of the three-day programme was the decoration of the deity with a variety of stones like pearls, diamonds, etc."
District magistrate Vishal Chauhan, who too attended the festivities, said that the event had seen people from all walks of life coming together in a unified celebration.
