Himachal Pradesh gets some respite from cold as temperatures rise

Himachal Pradesh got some more respite from cold on Wednesday as temperatures rose by several notches.

Both the minimum and the maximum temperatures increased by two to three degrees Celsius, Shimla Meteorological Centre director Manmohan Singh said.

The Met Centre forecast rain and snowfall at isolated places in the middle and the high hills on Thursday and February 18.

The highest temperature in the state was recorded in Una at 26 degrees Celsius, Singh added.

The maximum temperature in Solan and Bilaspur was 25 degrees Celsius each, followed by Hamirpur and Sundernagar at 24.8 degrees Celsius each, Bhuntar 23 degrees Celsius, Kangra 22.2 degrees Celsius, Chamba 21.5 degrees Celsius and Nahan 21 degrees Celsius.

Shimla recorded a high of 17 degrees Celsius, followed Dharamshala 15.8 degrees Celsius, Dalhousie 11.3 degrees Celsius, Kalpa 6 degrees Celsius and Keylong 1.8 degrees Celsius.

The lowest temperature was recorded in Keylong at minus 5.2 degrees Celsius. Kalpa recorded a low of minus 3 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature in Manali was 3.8 degrees Celsius, followed by Kufri 4.9 degrees Celsius, Dalhousie 5.5 degrees Celsius and Shimla 7.7 degrees Celsius, he added.
