Himachal signs MOUs worth Rs 780 cr during Guj roadshow

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur Friday said his state has so far signed MoUs of Rs 23,000 crore for investment, including ones worth Rs 780 crore inked during its roadshow in Gujarat.

During its road show here, the HP government signed Memorandums of Understanding worth Rs 780 crore in sectors like wellness, waste management, power generation, aviation among others, the Confederation of Indian Industry said.

A two-day investors summit will be held in Dharamshala in HP on November 7-8, during which investment of Rs 85,000 crore is expected, Thakur said.

"This is the first such initiative from the Himachal Pradesh government. Already we have signed MoUs worth Rs 23,000 crore, and expect to attract investment of around Rs 85,00 crore," he said.

Ambuja Exports Pvt Ltd signed an MoU worth Rs 100 crore to set up an additional grinding unit, while Chandresh Cables inked a Rs 40 crore MoU to set up a unit there.

Essact Project Management LLP signed MoU worth Rs 100 crore, while the amount was Rs 10 crore for Blue Ray Aviation. the CII said.

Centaur Energy evinced interest in a solar plant by signing MoU worth Rs 360 crore, while JJ PV Solar Pvt Ltd inked MoU worth Rs 40 crore.

The state is expecting to attract investment in the areas of tourism and agriculture, with focus on adventure tourism, adventure sports, and hospitality, he said.

In the agriculture sector, it seeks to strengthen supply and setting up of agri-processing units, the chief minister said.

It also seeks further investment in Baddi, known as Asia's largest pharma hub, he said.

Thakur said his government had tweaked the industrial, tourism and power policies, and simplified the process to get clearances in order to attract investors.
