Hindu, right-wing leaders on radar of fringe elements: Punjab

Fringe elements backed by Pakistan's intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) are targeting some Hindu and right-wing leaders in Punjab and trying to fan communal disturbance in the state, a senior Punjab police official said today.
The official said the police got the information during the interrogation of persons who were arrested after eight terror modules were busted in the state.
"Backed by the ISI, these fringe elements are targeting Hindu and right-wings leaders in the state. They are trying to fan communal disturbance," the official said on the condition of anonymity.
He also refused to name the leaders on the radar of "radicalised youths".

Earlier this month, the Punjab police had claimed to have achieved major success in solving the cases of targeted killings, including that of RSS leader Jagdish Gagneja, with the arrest of five persons.
The state government had accused the ISI of conspiring to fan communal disturbance and destabilise the state.
