The Naukri Job Speak Index for June stood at 1,570, showing a 22 per cent increase in hiring activities compared to the corresponding period last year. The same is 2 per cent lower compared to May, 2014.
Industry wise hiring sentiment was positive with Telecom and BPO seeing an increase of 20 per cent each respectively in June 2014 as compared to June 2013.
A functional area analysis shows that the demand for professionals working in IT and HR & Administration saw the maximum growth, with the Naukri Job Speak Index moving up by 29 per cent and 27 per cent respectively in June 2014 over same period last year.
Professionals employed in ITES have also seen an increase of 24 per cent on an year-on-year basis.
Kolkata, meanwhile, has seen a single digit growth of 5 per cent during the above mentioned period, the report said.
