Hisar rape: Key accused at large; SC Commission slams Haryana

After carrying out two arrests on Saturday and Monday, the police said it had stepped up efforts to nab the remaining ten accused even as additional forces have been deployed in the victim's village to instill a sense of security.

"So far we have arrested two youths. The efforts are on to arrest the remaining ones. We have got clues and eight teams have been sent to various places to nab them. We are hopeful that the accused will be arrested soon," Hisar police chief B Satheesh Balan said.

He also said additional forces have been deployed in the Dabra village and security had been provided to the victim's family.

On the possibility of the accused having circulated a video clip of the rape incident as some of them had allegedly filmed the crime, Balan said things will become clear once the remaining accused are nabbed.

While NCSC today slammed the delay in nabbing the remaining culprits.

"The atrocities and cruelty against the Dalits are increasing in Haryana. There are 600 complaints from Haryana alone pending with the Commission," Raj Kumar Virk, Vice-Chairman of the Commission told reporters here.

Virk said that it is unfortunate that the main culprits of gangrape incident had not been arrested so far.

"The police has one week to nab all the accused in the case otherwise the Commission will take action against the erring officers, suspend or transfer them.

"There is also an urgent need to establish separate police stations to deal with the cases of Dalits' exploitation," he said.

He alleged that the police generally rounds up whole the family of a poor man or a Dalit accused in any case to arrest him "but why the same conduct is not shown towards influential people of the society. The police should treat all the castes, communities or sections equally."
