A R Rahman is not new to anthems but when he was approached to create a song for Hockey Men's World Cup, he wanted the idea of the country and culture to come across.
'Jai Hind India', penned by Gulzar and featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara, is a tribute to India, the double Oscar-winner said at the launch of the song.
"The video and the song has to go beyond hockey. When people watch something they watch it for many things. When you do something for sports, we felt we should include culture also. The song is a tribute to India," Rahman told reporters here.
He said having done anthems for films like "Lagaan", '127 Hours" and "Million Dollar Arm", he had an idea about the world he wanted to create through his music.
"Hockey is a national game and I wanted to give my heart to it," he said.
