Homage paid to 94 kids on 10th anniversary of fire tragedy

: Leaders of political parties, members of Kumbakonam Bar Association, officials and others today paid homage to 94 children who died in a blaze at a school in the city on this day in July 2004.
Parents of the children who were charred to death in the fire mishap, offered prayers and paid floral tributes to the departed souls in front of the school on the 10th anniversary of the tragedy.
They also placed wreaths at a memorial here built by the state government in memory of the children.
The 94 children were charred to death in the fire at Sri Krishna school on July 16 2004, while 18 others suffered injuires.
