Homams and Poojas performed for TN CM's well-being
Press Trust of India Nagapattinam Special homams and poojas were performed today at the Lord Amirthakadeswara temple at Thirikkadaiyur in the district as part of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's 66th birthday celebrations.
The poojas were performed to mark Jayalalithaa's birth star (Magam) today.
Jayalalithaa's birth date is on February 24 as per the English calendar.
The Saivaite temple is noted for performing special poojas and homams on the 60th and 80th birthdays. It is the staunch belief of devotees that performing "Aayush Homam" (ritual for longevity) at this temple would bestow a disease-free long life.
Mayiladuthurai AIADMK MP, O.S.Manian presided over the conduct of poojas.
Priests performed 21 different homams such as "Gho Pooja" and "Gaja Pooja" seeking blessings for the Chief Minister's well-being.
Poor feeding on a mass scale and distribution of free saris and dhotis marked the Chief Minister's birth star celebrations.
