Terming peace as the 'prerequisite' for development, Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Kumar Waii Monday called for ending "unlawful activities" in Tirap district for rapid development of the district.

"Despite having abundant tourism potentials, Tirap and Longding districts are yet to be included in tourist circuits due to security problem in the districts," Waii said while gracing the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Chalo Loku festival of the Nocte community at Khonsa in Tirap district.

Extending his greetings to the community on the occasion, the minister said that most festivals of the state are related to agriculture and further wished for a bumper harvest this year besides protecting the crops from natural calamities, an official communique said.

Waii said the state with unique natural beauty, flora and fauna along with varieties of folk songs, dances and festivals could be a major tourist destination of the country.

Pointing out that lack of major industries in the state is responsible for increasing unemployment problem, the Home minister said that as the government cannot create employment opportunities for all the unemployed youths, tourism is the only sector and efforts should be made in creating more tourist circuits in the state.

Extending his greetings to the community Roing MLA Mutchu Mithi said that the Noctes are traditionally rich, an embodiment of courage and peace loving people and one of most important tribes of the state.
