Hong Kong girls Tin Yan, Sin Yuk enter semis at squash meet

Top seed Tin Yan Lau and Sin Yuk Chan from Hong Kong entered the semi-finals of the under 15 girls event in the Rs 6.5 lakh prize-money NSCI Indian Classic Junior Open Squash Championship today.
Tin Yan fought back nerves to subdue a fighting local girl Aryaa Ogale 3-2 in a hard-fought quarter-final match, while her compatriot Sin Yuk quickly disposed of Delhi's Megha Bhatia, the joint third-fourth seed, in straight games in another quarter-final tie at at the NSCI courts here.
Tin Yan wrapped up the game 9-11 11-6 9-11 11-4 11-8 against Aryaa in 43 minutes, while compatriot Sin Yuk carved out a facile 11-6, 11-7, 11-0 win in just 20 minutes over Megha.
In the semi-final, Sin Yuk will run into Maharashtra's Avani Nagar, who stunned second seed Samita S of Tamil Nadu 3-2 (11-6 8-11 12-10 6-11 11-8).
The top two seeds in the boys' under-15 category, Yash Fadte of Goa and Neel Joshi of Maharashtra, also progressed to the semi-finals.
In quarter-final encounters, top seed Yash tamed Sankalp Anand of Delhi 11-8 11-8 11-6, while second seed Joshi sidelined Chandigarh's Shivamraaj Gulati in four games at 13-11 11-6 3-11 11-8.
