According to the MeT department, the maximum temperature settled at 35.8 degree Celsius which was two notches above normal and slightly up from yesterday's 34.6 degree Celsius.
The minimum temperature was registered at 27.2 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal and marginally higher from previous day's reading of 26.5 degree Celsius.
As rain eluded the national capital and clouds gave way to sunshine, temperature gradually soared as the day progressed. This coupled with high humidity levels which oscillated between 56 and 86 per cent made life uncomfortable for Delhiites.
"The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to settle around 35 and 29 degrees Celsius respectively," a MeT official said.
