House panel set up to look into MLAs' demand for salary hike

Speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta today constituted a House Committee to look into the demand of MLAs for raising their salaries and enhancing the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Six-time National Conference MLA Ali Mohammad Sagar will head the committee that will examine the demand of the MLAs for hiking their salary from Rs 80,000 to Rs 2.5 lakh per month.
The committee will also look into the demand for enhancing the CDF from existing Rs 1.5 crore per year to Rs five crore per year.
The MLAs have also demanded increasing the salary of their PROs from existing Rs 5000 to at least 20,000 per month.
M Y Taragami, Nawang Ringzin Jora, G M Saroori, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Javid Hassan Beigh, Rajesh Gupta, Davinder Kumar Manyal, Sat Pal Sharma, Devinder Singh Rana and Dina Nath are the other members of the committee.
As many as 54 MLAs have gave a written petition to the Speaker during the ongoing Budget Session seeking hike in salaries and enhancement of the CDF.
