HP Chief Secretary P Mitra suffers stroke

Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary P Mitra today suffered a brain stroke and was rushed to PGI Chandigarh.
Mitra had gone to an orchard near Theog, 35 km from here, when he felt uneasy and was brought to IGMC hospital here.
After thorough checkup at IGMC, he was referred to PGI , Chandigarh. He left in his official car followed by ambulance, and was in a consciuos state, Medical Superintendent, Dr Romesh said.
Mitra had succeeded Sudripta Roy as Chief Secretary after he suffered brain haemorrhage in October 2013.
Later, Roy recovered and was appointed as Advisor to the Government, based in Delhi and Mitra continued as the Chief Secretary.
A 1978 batch officer of Himachal IAS cadre, Mitra took over as Chief Secretary on May 23, 2014, and his retirement is due in May 2016.
