HP Guv discusses with DCs importance of zero budget natural farming

Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Dev Vrat discussed about the benefits of zero budget natural farming with state deputy commissioners during his visit to to Gurukul in Haryana's Kurukshetra, an official spokesperson said on Saturday.

The governor took the deputy commissioners along with him to 180 acre land of the Gurukul, so that they can gain first-hand experience about zero budget natural farming and implement it in Himachal Pradesh, he said.

Acharya Dev Vrat said cow urine and dung has ben used as manure in the Gurukul farms for growing wheat, paddy, sugarcane, potatoes and other crops. The land has become more fertile which led to increase in quality and quantity of crops, the spokesperson saod.

The president of Gurukul Management Committee Kulwant Singh Saini and its principal Colonel Arun Datta (retired) said the Gurukul was founded by Swami Shardhanand in 1912 to inculcate Indian ethos and scientific temperament among the youth.

Currently being run by Arya Pratinidhi Sabha of Haryana's Rohtak, Gurukul is providing education to around 1,500 students in its sprawling 40 acre campus.
