The governor was supposed to participate in a number of programmes, including those related to farmers, in the region, an official statement said.
However, his chopper had to turn back as the weather conditions were not conducive for landing at Keylong, it said, adding that the governor returned to Rampur from Rekong Peo and later came back to Shimla as cloud and fog had engulfed the higher hills.
The sky remained overcast in the mid and higher hills during the day time and the region saw widespread rains. But the lower and foot hills reeled under sultry conditions with the mercury at 34.5 degrees Celsius at Una, the Met department said.
The department has also forecast rains or snowfall in higher hills and tribal areas over the next six days and also rains and thundershowers in the mid and lower hills.
Renuka in Sirmaur district recorded 95 mm rains while moderate rains occurred at several places in the state.
