The Himachal Pradesh Olympic Association (HPOA) Wednesday decided to honour all athletes who won medals at the recently concluded Asian Games.
This decision was taken during a meeting chaired by the state association's president Anurag Thakur, who is also BJP MP from Hamirpur.
At the meeting, it was decided that Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and state Sports Minister Govind Thakur would honour the winners during the function that will be held shortly. The venue for the function is yet to be decided.
Not only will the medal winners be felicitated but even their coaches and support staff, officials said.
Meanwhile, the association has urged the state government to handover the synthetic track and indoor facilities at Hamirpur as they could be used for a Olympic sports academy.
