HRD Min laying special emphasis on modernisation of

HRD Minister Smriti Irani today said that the government was giving special emphasis on modernisation and strengthening of madrasas in the country.
The HRD Ministry has taken all the necessary steps towards modernization and strengthening of madrasas, Irani said at a function at the Jamia Milia Islamia university here.
Irani was addressing a national symposium on "Educating and Mainstreaming of Indian Muslims".
Newly-appointed Chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) Zafar Sareshwala was also present during the symposium which was presided over by Jamia Vice Chancellor Talat Ahmad.
Irani also laid emphasis on the importance of character- building in education.

No field of education is complete without the building of character and a strong sense of service to the under-privileged and the motherland, she said.
