The Haryana government has decided to provide financial assistance to rural families in the state who neither have their own house nor are in the list of eligible beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY).

These families can apply for financial assistance to their respective block development and panchayat officer (BDPO).

The decision was taken at a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar here today to review the progress of various important schemes and projects.

It was decided that an applicant who wants to get financial assistance would be required to get the application marked either from the gram sarpanch or gram sachiv or member of zila parishad or panchayat samiti or the former sarpanch, an official release said.

In the survey conducted by the Development and Panchayats Department, as many as 18,000 eligible beneficiaries were identified under the PMAY scheme and funds have been sanctioned for the construction of houses.

While reviewing the Housing for All Scheme, (Urban), the chief minister said the state government aimed to ensure that proper systemic housing facility was also provided to the people residing in urban slum areas.

The meeting decided that the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikarnan (HSVP) would construct affordable houses for those living in the Rajiv Colony in Panchkula and it would be ensured that they shift to the newly-constructed dwelling units.

Reviewing the 'Saubhagya' scheme to provide electricity connection to each household in the state, the chief minister directed the officers to ensure that all households and hamlets have electricity connection.

The state government has covered the entire north Haryana under the 'Saubhagya' scheme by ensuring electricity connection in all 15.80 lakh households consumers who have applied for the same, it was informed.

Similarly, electricity connections have also been released to all households in south Haryana except a few households in Mewat.

However, a contract has already been allotted for providing electricity connections to these remaining households, the work on which would soon be started.

Khattar issued directions that wherever electricity line is available, connection would be released by the Electricity department, whereas in the areas where electricity lines are not available, connection of solar energy should be made available.

Under the 'Ayushman Bharat Yojana' to provide cashless treatment facility to patients, as many as 15.53 lakh eligible families have been identified.

All the additional deputy commissioners in the state have been asked to fast track work for verification of this data of beneficiaries.
