The excise and taxation department in Ambala raided a factory Monday in Saha village located on the AmbalaJagadhri highway near Ambala Cantt where country-made liquor was allegedly being manufactured illegally.
Around 15 labourers working at the factory were detained for questioning, police said.
They said nearly 800 boxes of country-made liquor, a large number of empty bottles, covers and packing machines were recovered during the raid.
The factory had been running there for the past several months, they said, adding that its owner was not present when the raid was conducted.
As per preliminary investigations, inferior quality liquor of a branded company was being manufactured there and was sold at cheaper rates in the market, police said.
The matter was being investigated, they said.
