Huawei ropes in Lionel Messi as brand ambassador

Chinese tech major Huawei today said it has roped in footballer Lionel Messi as its new global brand ambassador.
He joins names like Robert Lewandowski and Alexis Sanchez, who continue to promote the brand's smartphones.
"The partnership with Lionel Messi showcases the brand's alignment with people and brands that demonstrate, and strive towards its shared value of connecting greatness," Huawei said in a statement.

US-based AppAlert raises $900K in seed funding * AppAlert has raised USD 900,000 in seed round of funding, led by Narinder Singh, a US-based serial investor.
The company's Indian subsidiary, AppAlert Online Services has launched a cloud, mobile-only school bus tracking system that allows parents and school management track the precise location of children when they are on the school bus.
The funding secured will be deployed to build and enhance the core application and to expand its service offerings in markets of Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and Australia, it said in a statement.
AppAlert has kicked off trials at more than 20 schools in NCR and Mumbai encompassing 15,000 children, it added.

* Happiest Minds Technologies today said it has partnered Tickto, a provider of Beacons and IoT-based platform, to help retailers with a mobile-enabled and cloud-ready technology platform.
These solutions empower store associates and management for a richer sales assistance, customer tracking and engagement, a statement said.
In partnership with Tickto, the integrated retail solutions deliver proximity marketing and out of box in-store customer behaviour analytics, it added.

Rumjhum Chatterjee CII northern regional council chairperson * Rumjhum Chatterjee has become the first woman chairperson of the CII Northern Regional Council for 2016-17.
The industry chamber said that Sumant Sinha has been elected Deputy-Chairman of CII NR.
"The new incumbents were elected at the first meeting of the new Regional Council members," CII said in a statement.
Rumjhum said: "India needs to have an improved strategic framework to effectively skill lakhs of people, in skills to help them achieve better careers and job prospects".
