Huey Lewis and the News cancel shows citing singer's hearing loss

Huey Lewis and his band, the News, have been forced to cancel all of their 2018 tour dates after the singer revealed that he was suffering from Meniere's disease, an inner ear disorder.

The 67-year-old hitmaker announced the news in a statement posted on his Twitter page, saying he lost "most of my hearing" two and a half months ago ahead of a show in Dallas.

"Two and a half months ago, just before a show in Dallas, I lost most of my hearing. Although I can still hear a little, one on one, and on the phone, I can't hear music well enough to sing. The lower frequencies distort violently making it impossible to find pitch."
