Huge cache of weapons recovered in Punjab

Police today recovered a huge cache of weapons from a canal near Kaind bridge on the Ludhiana- Malerkotla road here, a senior official said.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Police (ADCP) Satbir Singh Atwal said a police team, acting on a tip off, recovered 15 pistols, 6 revolvers, 7 country made pistols and three rocket launchers.
Out of the 15 pistols, 10 were made in China, he said, adding the weapons were wrapped in a plastic sheet.
A large quantity of AK-47 rifle ammunition and 14 hand grenades were also recovered by police in the district last week during digging work of a pond under the employment guarantee scheme in a village.
