The skulls were spotted by a local businessman in a deserted place in Pttarparswa Mutt when he had gone inside its premises yesterday. The skulls were seized in the presence of a magistrate and sent to a laboratory at Cuttack for examination, the police said adding, a case of unnatural death has been registered and investigation was on.
When contacted, Sri Narayan Ramanuj Das, Mahant of Uttarparshwa Mutt, said the site where the skulls were found was no longer under the possession of the mutt.
It may be recalled that as many as 21 human skulls were found under a bridge over Kusabhadra river on Puri-Konark Road on November 23 last year and a Tantrik was arrested by police from Gop area.
