Sham Lal, who was absconding after the incident, was arrested after his wife Jyoti Devi was found injured in a field at Katli village on Wednesday, police said.
On receiving the information about the woman, a police team reached the spot and shifted her to district hospital from where she was referred to Government Medical College here, police said.
Police also recovered the sickle from the spot.
An attempt to murder case was registered at Samba police station against Lal, who had fled the spot after committing the crime, police said.
The reason for the attack has not been ascertained yet, police said.
