He may be called 'Haanikaarak Baapu' by his on-screen kids in the upcoming "Dangal", but superstar Aamir Khan says in real life, he is a very loving father.
The 51-year-old actor says while he was working in his directorial debut "Taare Zameen Par", he realised that having supportive parents is one of the most important things a child needs.
"While filming 'Taare Zameen Par', we did a lot of research and spoke to a lot of experts. What I found out from that was, kids need a lot of love. They need supportive parents who trust them, give them security. But as a father I am not that strict... I am a very loving and indulgent father," he told reporters.
Aamir was speaking at the "Haanikaarak Bapu" song launch, yesterday.
The film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari of "Bhoothnath Returns" fame, stars Aamir in the role of Mahavir Singh Phogat, who taught wrestling to his daughters Babita Kumari and Geeta Phogat
The first song of "Dangal" shows the actor training his two teenage daughters before introducing them to the wrestling ring.
The "Dhoom 3" star was all praise for young actors, Zaira Wasim and Suhani Bhatnagar, who play his daughters on screen.
"These two girls are really amazing. Once you watch the film you'll know. They have done a wonderful job," he said.
While there is a tremendous buzz regarding his film, Aamir says the intention behinds making "Dangal" was not to set any box office records.
"I don't think either Nitesh or I wanted to break any records and that's not why we were making this film. This was a story we all loved. We would feel very happy if the film touches hearts of people. We are more interested in that.
"I don't know about records. I am happy that we have made the film that we set out to make. When I watch the film today I feel Nitesh has very beautifully put that story on screen."
"Dangal" is scheduled to release on December 23.
