The Information and Broadcasting ministry has issued warnings to two Community Radio stations over content which a high level panel thought was "objectionable and denigrating" towards women.
In the first case, the channel 'Gurgaon Ki Awaaz' was issued a show cause notice over the broadcast of an "objectionable" word in a programme.
According to the I&B ministry order, the channel in its response CRS apologised for the breach of the broadcasting code and said that it was unintended.
The IMC pointed out that the channel had used a grossly taboo word in its programme which was particularly demeaning to women and also felt that the broadcaster should also be conscious of its responsibility in the matter of content and should be more vigilant in future.
On the recommendation of the IMC, the I&B ministry issued a warning to the channel.
In another order, the I&B ministry issued a warning to Community Radio Station Alfaz-e'Mewat in Haryana over the broadcast of programme 'Kisse Kahaniyan'.
According to the I&B ministry order, after issuing a showcause notice and also hearing the community radio station's reply, the IMC felt that it may be apt to issue a warning to the channel.
