A maximum of 71 gallantry medals including one President's Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) have been received by the country's largest paramilitary force CRPF followed by Maharashtra (23) and Odisha (19), in this category.
While PPMG has been awarded to 15 personnel, Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) has been given to 163 police personnel, President's police medal for distinguished service to 82 personnel and police medal for meritorious service has been accorded to 659 personnel, a Home Ministry statement said.
