'Pizza' actor Akshay Oberoi feels newcomers from non-filmy background have an advantage over star kids as they do not have to please anyone by working in one's film.
Akshay was last seen in 2010 romantic-comedy 'Isi Life Mei', which did not do well at the box-office.
The actor made a comeback with the supernatural thriller produced by Bejoy Nambiar, which also starred former Miss India Parvathy Omanakuttan and Dipannita Sharma.
"I don't have to please anyone because I am not a star kid. I don't need to restrict myself and work for specific people because they launched me. I don't feel bounded. There is less pressure, as there is no baggage of expectations" Akshay told PTI.
Keeping the advantages aside, the actor says he considers all his contemporaries his competition and keeps a tab on what work they are doing.
"I think if people say they do not feel competition, they are lying. I am fully aware of that. I watch films of my contemporaries, I see what they talk and how much money their films make," Akshay said.
The 29-year-old actor said his struggling period of four years was mentally challenging.
"I did some theatre and television show 'MTV Rush' which was directed by Bejoy. But I did not get good roles in films so I thought to wait. It was frustrating," he said.
Akshay, who is happy that he finally got a substantial role with 'Pizza', says he would like to stay away from rom-coms for some time and be a part of experimental cinema.
"There are enough actors doing that commercial cinema. I might do it later but right now I am more interested in something that shows my acting skills, because that's primarily what I am here to do," the actor said.
