I-League clubs meeting on Tuesday on AIFF's request

Owners and representatives of 14 I-League club will meet in Mumbai on Tuesday to decide their course of action on All India Football Federation's request to sort out the stand-off with its commercial partner IMG-Reliance on the issue of IPL-style tournament.
AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das had written a letter to I-League Professional Football Clubs Association President Raj Gomes, requesting for a meeting between the clubs and the IMG-Reliance on the formers' refusal to release their players for the tournament proposed to be held early next year.
Gomes told PTI that the clubs have not decided anything on the issue and will do so in the meeting only.

"A meeting of I-League Professional Football Clubs Association has been called on July 23 in Mumbai and whatever decision we have to take, we will do so in the meeting," Gomes, also secretary of Salgaocar Sports Club, said.
"All the 14 I-League clubs will send either their owners or a representative in the meeting. We want to take things positively and we will discuss the letter written by the AIFF and take a decision on what we should do," he said.
IMG-Reliance had asked the AIFF to intervene in the stand-off with the I-League clubs on the issue of IPL-style tournament and call for a meeting.

In the letter, Das had said that the IMG-Reliance had requested the AIFF to contact the clubs to set up a meeting "to discuss and agree on the players loan/transfer issues so that both the I-League for the season 2013-14 and the proposed new tournament can be conducted smoothly".
Das had said that he would be happy to be part of the meeting as "it's very important for the sake of Indian football that an appropriate compromise is reached.
