The 21-year-old pop star said he does not get to meet his mother more often, reported US magazine.
"I'm a lot closer to my dad than I am to my mom. Doesnet see her as much as I'd like to," Bieber said.
The "Sorry" hitmaker's dad lives in Ontario and his mom has settled down in Hawaii.
"You don't need them as much. And for them, it's like, you were all they had. Not all, but they were so invested in you. And then one day you're just gone. And you're doing your own thing, and you don't need them, and you don't value their opinion the same, either," he added.
