"I did not try for any tricks, I wanted to keep it simple. I did not think of any other thing, just bowled to get the wickets and I got a hat-trick," Mishra said after Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Pune Warriors by 11 runs in a nail-biting finish.
Asked if there was any discussion before the match how to bowl to defend the small score of 119, Mishra said, "(Captain) Cameron White said to me that I should go for wickets and I did just that.
White praised Mishra for his sensational performance.
"I am not sure what happened, whether it was a freak win or not. We got wickets as and when we needed and then Mishy (Mishra) did his job," he said.
"In small chases, we cannot leave Ishant (Sharma) and (Dale) Steyn to get wickets till the last," he added.
A disappointed Pune Warriors captain Angelo Mathews conceded that his side choked yet again to lose the match towards the end.
"We got to be consistent to move on from here. Nine more games to turn things around," said the Sri Lankan.
