Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday strongly came out in support of her husband Robert Vadra, whom she dropped off at by the Enforcement Directorate's office for questioning in a money laundering case.

In an apparent political message, Priyanka Gandhi dropped off her husband before taking charge as the Congress general secretary at the AICC headquarters.

"He is my husband, he is my family...I support my family," she said when asked whether she was sending a message by dropping off her husband.

Asked if it was a political vendetta, she said that everyone knows why this is being done. The case pertains to money laundering and alleged possession of illegal foreign assets.

Priyanka Gandhi's show of support to her husband came days after an emotional message from Vadra on her appointment AICC general secretary in-charge of Uttar Pradesh east.

"Congratulations P... always by your side in every phase of your life. Give it your best, Vadra had said in a Facebook post.

Vadra appeared before the ED after being directed by a Delhi court to cooperate with the investigation being carried out by the central probe agency. He had knocked on the court's door seeking anticipatory bail in the case.

A Delhi court last week granted interim bail to him till February 16 and asked him to join probe by appearing in person on February 6 in this case.

Asked about Vadra's questioning by the ED, Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said:"Election season is on and we expect that everyday when a summon is to be answered there will be a press conference."
