A week after his retirement, former Andhra Pradesh DGP V Dinesh Reddy today said he was "betrayed and back-stabbed" as he was not given an extension despite "assurances" from Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar.
"On several occasions I was assured by the chief minister himself that I will get an extension for another year," he told reporters here.
"However, I felt humiliated that just two days prior to my superannuation, a notice was given to me on my retirement. I am only telling circumstances leading to my humiliation I faced. I am hurt and sharing my feelings. I have been betrayed and back-stabbed (with regard to my extension)."
Reddy, who is under CBI scanner on allegations of acquiring disproportionate assets, retired on September 30. Referring to the CBI probe against him, he said, "I have given CBI all the documents."
Citing the reasons which he claimed led to his not getting extension, Reddy alleged that the chief minister's brother Santosh Reddy contacted him on several occasions requesting to exert his influence in land disputes.
"However, I did not entertain his requests," he said.
He claimed his statements about influence of Maoists in a bifurcated state while speaking to reporters in Delhi in July ahead of the announcement of creation of new Telangana state had "annoyed" the chief minister.
Reddy accused Kiran Kumar of interfering in the postings of police officials by making recommendations.
He further claimed that it was the chief minister, who "intervened and directed the police" for giving permission to the 'Save Andhra Pradesh' public meeting organised by the AP Non-Gazetted Officers(APNGOs) in protest against bifurcation of the state held here on September 7.
The AP government on September 26 had informed the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) here of its decision of not extending Reddy in the post as the "government thought it fit for not extending his term in view of the pending CBI enquiry against him".
The Andhra Pradesh High Court on September 29 had dismissed Reddy's plea seeking extension of his term for one more year against the decision of CAT which had refused to grant him interim relief to continue in his post.
Reacting to another query, he said he is not inclined to join politics. "Whenever it happens, I will tell about it.
