The couple dated for five years after meeting on the set of "High School Musical" in 2005 but she quickly got over the attention he received from overexcited fans, reported the New York Post.
"I went through a phase when I was really mean because I was so fed up. Girls were running after him, and I was giving them death stares. Then I realised that's not what that's about. 'Spread the love, be a good person, they support you, be nice'," she said.
After splitting from Efron in 2010, Hudgens began dating another actor by the name of Austin Butler, who she is still with today.
"It feels like Arcade Fire - it's epic like that. They really focus on you having your own personal relationship with Jesus, which is wonderful," she added.
26-year-old Hudgens is currently starring in Gigi on Broadway.
