You can fly fighter jets and destroy enemy bases as part of top secret mission to help your nation win a war. All from your mobile phone!
In a first of its kind, the Indian Air Force is launching a mobile phone game soon to woo youngsters.
The game, which will be freely available from July 3 across Android, iOS and Windows platforms on mobile phones, is aimed at children between ages 14 and 18 and to encourage them to join the Air Force, IAF officials said today.
Simulating experiences of an Air Officer, the game 'Guardians of the Sky' has top notch graphics, thumping music and aircraft such as Sukhoi 30 and MiG 29, actually flown by the Air Force, they said.
The game offers missions and the player will undergo experiences as close as possible to a real briefing before every mission, war-like sitaution, search and rescue mission and all in defence of the nation against a fictional enemy country, they said.
DISHA, the IAF wing that looks afer induction of officers, has used advertisements and other tools too to encourage youth. But a mobile game, in a first, is seen as 'one-on-one' interaction which they believe is more influential to appeal to the young brains.
The user is allowed to live the life of an air officer and is taken through air combat scenarios undertaken by the IAF in a manner that the player gets a "having been there" sensation.
"This will help us reach out to the youth to consider IAF as a challenging and exhilarating career option," an official said.
The mobile game has been developed by a Delhi-based company Theyre and its development had started mid-February this year.
GOTS will be released in two phases. The first phase will have one training mission and two operational missions.
The second phase of the game comprising eight operational missions will be released in October coinciding with the Air Force Day.
