The cadre of IAS officer Abhishek Singh has been changed from Uttar Pradesh to Union Territories after his wife Durga Shakti Nagpal was recently appointed as OSD to a Union minister here.
A 2011-batch IAS officer, Singh has been moved to the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory cadre (Delhi segment) for a period of three years in relaxation of guidelines, said an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training.
The state government and Home Ministry have given their nod to the cadre change, it said.
According to rules, a married couple in government service needs to be posted at the same location as far as possible.
Nagpal, a 2010-batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, was in January appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh. She has been appointed for a three-year period.
She was in the news in 2013 for taking on the sand mining mafia and cracking down on illegal construction in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad district.
She was in July, 2013, suspended by the Uttar Pradesh government, a move which was believed to have been effected at the behest of some politicians hailing from that area. Nagpal was reinstated in September, 2013.
