PCC chief Partap Singh Bajwa said the assault on IAS officer Kahan Singh Pannu two days ago should be thoroughly investigated.
"It is ironical that a senior IAS officer who was representing Punjab Government in rescue operations in Uttarakhand was assaulted in the presence of three personal security guards of Punjab Police and other officials.
"The very fact that somebody in the mob videographed the assault on IAS officer Pannu and uploaded it on Youtube indicates deep rooted conspiracy to humiliate and harass Pannu," Bajwa said in a statement here.
Bajwa claimed that Pannu was beaten up by youths who accused him of using abusive language and hurting the religious sentiments of some community members.
