The MoU was signed to bring about collaborative research and development between IBSD and NNIBR and would also involve exchange of researchers between the two institutes.
IBSD director Prof D Sahoo stressed on the uniqueness of the north eastern region and said the MoU will focus on joint research and development of science and technology for sustainable utilization of its bio-resources.
NNIBR Director Wook Jae Lee, principal researcher Namil Chung and senior researcher Dr Mi-Hwa Lee spoke of the many unique bio-resources available in northeast India out of which a few could be commercialized for socio-economic development of the region, a spokesperson of the IBSD said.
