The normal skating season, which commences in last week of November or early December, has been delayed by more than two weeks due to extreme cold weather. Minimum temperatures stayed between minus 10 to 14 degree Celsius.
The ideal temperatures essential for natural freezing of ice is between zero to two degrees.
The successful trial run has brought cheers to skating enthusiasts in Himachal Pradesh.
"We are hopeful of morning session tomorrow and regular morning and evening sessions from December 21 and hope for clear sky," said Secretary of theIceSkatingClub Shimla Bhuvnesh Banga.
