ICGS to conduct sail boat race from May 25

The Indian Coast Guard Station (ICGS) at Mandapam, which recently had inaugurated an Aqua Node complex, will be conducting a sail boat race from May 25 to 29.
A release here today said that boats of various class and size will participate in the race which will have participants of different age groups. The race is an initiative by the ICGS to initiate spirit of water sports in Mandapam.
The recently opened Aqua Node had been functional and will be upgraded stepwise to a modern Aqua Node with all facilities of water sports, the release said.
This will create a friendly atmosphere between the fishing community and the Coast Guard and also nurture talent amongst the fishermen to operate the race class boats instead of traditional sail boats and enable them to participate in open race championships, it said.
