Around 2.3 billion units of electricity were traded on the bourse in March, with daily average trading volumes touching 73 million units.
In March, the overall trading volume was about 12 per cent higher than in February, mainly on account of an "increase in demand owing to the fast approaching summer season in the country".
"... Market prices continue to remain below Rs 3 per unit in March with the average Market Clearing Price (MCP) for the month at Rs 2.82 per unit, almost at par with Rs 2.85 per unit in the previous month," IEX said in a statement today.
The transfer of electricity between the southern states was also affected due to congestion, it said.
