Titled 'IFFK Screen Lab', the three-day workshop is exclusively envisaged for technicians in the Malayalam film industry.
The programme, a first-of-its-kind as part of the IFFK, will run till December 3 at the Revathy Kalamandir Film Academy in nearby Kazhakootam, Kerala Chalachitra Academy, the organisers of the festival said here in a release.
Besides expounding on the fundamentals, skills and techniques crucial to contemporary film productions - direction, production designing, cinematography, script pitching and make-up, among others - will be imparted as part of the programme, it said.
Minister for Forest, Transport, Sports, Environment and Cinema Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan will declare open the art direction and production designing session, while celebrated auteurs Shyam Benegal and Adoor Gopalakrishnan will launch the cinematography and script-pitching components, it said.
Around 113 leading lights from the Malayalam film industry will also be present.
The workshop will be mentored by Pulitzer Prize-nominated dramatist Martin Sherman, art director Anne Seibel who was nominated for an Oscar in production design for Hollywood icon Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris (2011), film editor Andrew Bird and film maker Nathalie David, it said.
Claire Dobbin, chairperson of the Melbourne International Film Festival, will helm the sessions that will also feature such Indian industry stalwarts as national award-winning cinematographer Anil Mehta, renowned make-up artists Nahush Pise and Ramesh Mohanty, among others, they said.
