Indian Information Service (IIS) officers can meet the newly appointed I&B secretary Amit Khare without an appointment on every Friday, an official notice said.
The notice was issued on June 1, a day after Khare, a 1985-batch IAS officer of the Jharkhand cadre assumed charge as I&B secretary on superannuation of N K Sinha.
According to the notice, officials of the ministry could also meet the secretary to discuss various issues without taking prior appointment.
Any officer of the Indian Information Service and officials of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting may meet Secretary (I&B) on every Friday from 06:30 pm to 07:30 pm without prior appointment, the notice said.
In February, the IIS officers' association has sought the PMO's intervention into the large-scale transfer, alleging that it was happening due to the ministry's refusal to adhere to laid down policies and guidelines.
In a letter to the Secretary to the Prime Minister, the Indian Information Service (IIS) Group 'A' Officers Association said the ministry has issued a number of transfer orders, affecting one-fourth (around 140 officers out of less than 500 Group A officers) of the IIS cadre in the past two months.
