Illicit liquor seized in Delhi ahead of MCD bypolls

Ahead of the municpal bypolls in Delhi, police have arrested a duo for allegedly supplying illicit liquor in the national capital.
Over 11 cartons of liquor smuggled from neighbouring states and almost as many beer bottles were seized yesterday, followinng the arrest of Anikesh (22) and Yatin (26), DCP (South) Ishwar Singh said.
The bypolls to 13 wards of the MCD is scheduled tomorrow.
During interrogation, the accused disclosed that they used to procure liquor from Bahadurgarh in Haryana and supply the same in Sangam Vihar and cluster areas near Faridabad border.
"They further disclosed that in view of forthcoming MCD bypolls, there was heavy demand for supply of liquor," he said.
Based on a tip-off received yesterday, police had laid a trap and arrested them from south Delhi's R K Puram area.
