Impart human values alongside academic knowledge: Raj Guv

On the ocassion of Teachers' Day, Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh today urged teachers to impart human values along with academic knowledge to students to make them a better human being.
Speaking at the national-level function, Singh said that scientific temperament should be developed among the students so that they can be more competitive.
"This should start at the level of primary education. For a stronger higher education, the ground should be strong at the primary level and teachers have very important role to play in this," Singh said.
"Good teachers, schools and educational environment is needed for a good primary education," he said, adding that the success of democracy was also dependent on education.
He also condemned copying in examination while calling it a curse, and said that use of unfair means in exams can get a student certificate or degree but not knowledge.
Education minister Vasudev Devnani said that the state government would observe former president A P J Abdul Kalam's birthday as students' day in the state every year.
He said that the state government made efforts to improve enrollment of students in government schools and as a s result of the efforts, 8 lakh more students have been enrolled in the current academic session.
The minister also informed that process to recruit teachers will be initiated this month and vacant posts of 11,000 lecturers will also be filled soon.
In the state level function, 24 teachers were felicitated Chairman of the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education B L Choudhary, Education Secretary Nareshpal Gangwal, Primary Education Secretary K L Meena and other officers were present in the function.
