An official of the PCB said that Imran, who was originally named in the Pakistan A squad that would be touring Sri Lanka from this week, was now being sent to Bangladesh to reinforce the Test squad.
"Sohail Khan has still not recovered completely from his back problem and doctors have advised him further rest," the official said.
"While Imran will fly to Bangladesh young left arm pacer, Zia ul Haq will replace him in the Pakistan A squad," he confirmed.
Even before the World Cup the national team has been regularly losing players to injuries and the list has grown including pacemen Junaid Khan, Muhammad Irfan, Bilawal Bhatti, Sohail Khan, Ehsan Adil, leg-spinner Yasir Shah and batsmen Sohaib Maqsood and Mohammad Hafeez missing the action.
