Following the death of a young woman after she was allegedly given electric shock by her in-laws, police today registered a case of dowry death against them.
Police said 20-year-old Guddi's husband Pritam, her father-in-law and mother-in-law were booked in connection with her death yesterday at Subasedi village under Bawal police station of the district.
The case was registered on a complaint filed by the woman's brother, who said Guddi, who got married to Pritam in May, 2011, gave birth to a son about six months ago after which her in-laws sought a car as dowry.
He alleged that when they could not meet their demand, they eliminated Guddi by giving her an electric shock.
The victim's post mortem examination was conducted today by a board of doctors at the Community Health Centre at Bawal, a senior police official said, adding the matter was under investigation.
